New BMW X5 Unveiled: Enhanced Performance, Luxury, and Technology
BMW has revealed the updated version of its popular SUV, the X5, set to hit Indian roads in 2025. The new model promises improved performance, luxurious amenities, and advanced technology.
Starting at ₹1.00 crore, the petrol-powered xDrive40i variant of the updated X5 offers a powerful 381 hp and 520 Nm of torque. Its diesel counterpart, the xDrive30d, starts at ₹1.02 crore, generating 286 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Both engine variants are mated to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system, ensuring smooth and responsive handling.
Each engine in the 2025 BMW X5 is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, contributing to improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. The M Sport Differential, a feature that enhances cornering stability, is available in the M Sport Pro package.
The standard xOffroad package offers four drive modes: xSand, xRocks, xGravel, and xSnow, which adjust suspension, throttle response, and traction settings according to the terrain type. Visual feedback is provided through the central display, showing parameters such as ground clearance and roll angles.
The interior of the updated X5 is upholstered in Merino leather, available in Tartufo, Black, and Ivory White for standard variants, and Black for M Sport Pro variants. The M Sport Pro package also includes BMW ConnectedDrive, Digital Key Plus, and the MyBMW app for remote services and status monitoring.
The standard features of the updated X5 include a Harman Kardon Surround Sound System, 4-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and Comfort Access. The BMW Curved Display, consisting of a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment display, is standard in the updated X5.
The exterior design of the updated X5 is more sporty, featuring matrix adaptive LED headlights, new L-shaped taillamps, and 21-inch alloy wheels as standard. Buyers opting for the M Sport Pro package receive a piano black interior trim, exclusive M seat belts, and high-gloss black design elements such as the kidney grille and tailpipe trims.
In 2025, SUVs comparable to the BMW X5 that will be available in India include the VinFast VF7 (expected price around ₹50 lakh), the Volvo EX30 (₹50 lakh), and the MG Majestor, a new flagship full-size SUV priced between ₹40–46 lakh. These models offer premium features and strong engines, positioning them near the BMW X5 segment in the Indian market.
