Skoda introduces the long-range Elroq model and verifies its eligibility for a £1,500 electric vehicle grant
The Škoda Elroq, the Czech automaker's second all-electric model, has made its way to the UK market and qualifies for the UK Electric Car Grant. Launched earlier this year, the Elroq is positioned in the compact SUV segment and is based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform.
The Elroq line-up, which includes the larger Enyaq range, is eligible for the grant. However, only the smaller battery models of both ranges are eligible for the discount. The entry-level Elroq SE 50 starts at £30,210 OTR, or £31,710 without the grant, while the Elroq SE L 85, the latest addition to the line-up with a long-range battery, is priced at £35,560 OTR, after a £1,500 ECG discount.
Škoda had to meet strict environmental standards to qualify for the grant, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability. The company claims to incorporate sustainability as a central part of its long-term strategy, using recycled materials and circular economy practices that turn waste into resources.
The Elroq's WLTP combined range across the line-up reaches up to 356 miles (Elroq Edition 85). It also supports rapid DC charging in under 28 minutes. The Elroq incorporates Škoda's updated Modern Solid design language, offering a sleek and modern aesthetic.
The Elroq has achieved both commercial and critical success. It joins Volkswagen and Cupra as the only brands that can take advantage of the new grant. Audi's product range, unfortunately, is beyond the scope of the UK Electric Car Grant.
Škoda is the last of the three Volkswagen Group brands to have models confirmed for the new grant. The Elroq's entry into the UK market, along with its eligibility for the grant, makes it an attractive option for those looking to make the switch to electric vehicles.
